Christmas Cactus Care
Christmas Cactus: Schlumbergera bridesii
Origin: Native to South American jungles, it is a succulant, not a true cactus as the name implies.
Watering: Do not let the plant dry out, water when the top half of the soil feels dry to the touch. Be careful not to over water which can cause buds to drop. To add more humidity to a dry atmosphere, place the pot on a tray of pebbles and keep the pebbles moist.
Light: A bright location out of direct sunlight.
Temperature: This native jungle plant likes a warm, humid environment. Keep away from direct sources of hot air like fireplaces and heat vents. They perfer night temperatures near 55 degrees F and day temperatures about 65 degrees F.
Fertilizing: Apply a mild houseplant fertilizer solution every other week.
