Summary: This delicious and versatile vegetable is very popular worldwide. Plants grow 2-3 ft/61-91 cm tall, with 4 or more fruit. One of our garden's best meat substitutes. Delicious fried, in casseroles or with other vegetables. Grows well in containers.
When and where to plant: Start seeds indoors or in a hotbed 8-10 weeks before night temperatures warm. For later crop start seeds outdoors in warm and sunny location after weather warms. Cultivate deeply and enrich with vegetable food and organic matter. Firm soil over seed.
Care: Keep soil moist, weed free and feed every 4-6 weeks.
Harvesting: Pick when glossy and dark purple. Skin should not spring back when pressed with thumb.
