Summary: Tender, sweet flavored peas are held upright on the top of semi-leafless plants that support themselves with extra tendrils. Grows best in cool weather and is among the earliest vegetables picked each year. Delicious fresh, frozen, or canned.
When and where to plant: Select sunny location and plant in early sprint as soon as soil can be worked. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food and organic matter. Plant 2-3 rows 6-12 inches /15-30 cm. apart so plants will interlock and support themselves. continue planting at 2 week intervals until early summer. Plant again in late summer for late fall crop. Firm soil over seed.
Care: Water by soaking soil, to reduce danger of disease.
Harvesting: Pick often when pods have almost become rounded. Hold vine while picking to avoid tearing it.
