Summary: This huge variety is frequently a prizewinner at county fairs. Carefully grown, fruits can exceed 200 lb. Fruits are evenly ribbed, medium orange and slightly rough. Fine textured orange flesh is outstanding for pies, cooking or freezing and the seeds make delicious snacks. Perfect for huge jack-o'lanterns.
When and where to plant: Select sunny location and sow seed when the soil has warmed. For an earlier crop, start indoors 4-6 weeks before setting out. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, working in vegetable food and organic matter and smooth with rake. Firm soil over seed and keep moist.
Care: For maximum size feed monthly, keep soil moist, pinch off all but 1 or 2 pumpkins per vine and leave plenty of space between plants.
Harvesting: Cut from vine using a pruning shear, leaving 3 in of stem.
Health Note: Contains Calcium, Iron and Vitamins A, B1, B2 and Niacin.
