Last March Kate Acia opened her heart and pasture to adopt a half starved ex-racehorse named Moon. Kate knew that Moon’s recovery would be based on his will to fight and access to high quality nutrition and care. After only a few months on Southern States feed, Moon became a different horse. Neither the farrier nor veterinarian recognized him as the same horse that was in such horrible condition not so long ago. At the age of 14 years old, a very healthy, vibrant and talented Moon entered a new world of eventing and hunter paces. Not only has he become Kate’s dream horse but he also very carefully carries her 5-year old daughter around the arena.
“So, again thank you so much for providing such great feed! Triple Crown® is the ONLY feed we feed at our barn. All of our horses are healthy and have great coats! We don't feed any additional supplements for feet, coat, condition, etc.” – Kate Acia, Cloverleaf Farm in Leitchfield, Kentucky.
Meet the amazing and inspiring Mary Huddleston of Virginia, one of Southern States rising stars. At only 13-years old she’s already racking up points in the American Quarter Horse Association’s Novice Youth, and 13 and under Hunter Under Saddle classes with her mare Artistry N Tails. Mary’s dedicated to winning, in more ways than just in the show pen. Mary battled a rare form of cancer for over two years, not even that could beat her! She’s now in remission and hitting the show circuit with full force. The picture to the left is from her Circuit Champion win at the 2008 Southern States Showdown in Lexington, VA. Mary and her family feed Legends® Show and Pleasure from Farmers Cooperative in Farmville, VA to their extended family of horses.
Last August Diana Cappellanti, filled with compassion, opened her farm to rescue five Thoroughbred cross weanlings from a nurse mare station in New York. With the gas and shipping prices at an all time high the situation was getting desperate for these foals. Thankfully, Tapps Horse Transportation donated their services and shipped all 5 foals from New York to Virginia. When the herd arrived they were all skin, bones and bulging eyeballs. It was a challenge to find enough muscle to even give them a shot.
The foals are now thriving and enjoying their new home, thanks to Diane’s TLC and Legends® Mare and Foal feed. Feeding time is their favorite time of day, as you can see in the photos. Diane, as well as her new babies (Charlie, Tom, Heart, Molly and Ivy) would like to thank Village Green Southern States in Ashland, Virginia for keeping them in stock with plenty of Legends® Mare and Foal feed!
