What is Avail?

AVAIL is a polymer coating for phosphorous fertilizer that absorbs aluminum, iron and other cations in the soil to help keep the phosphorus more available to the crop, so it is not tied up in the soil.

How does AVAIL work?

In the soil, AVAIL absorbs Aluminum, Iron, and other cations increasing the phosphorus availability to the plants' roots.

Why do I care?

Applied phosphorus fertilizer is tied up by Aluminum, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium and other cations. Typically, less than 25% of applied phosphate is utilized by the plant. Making more phosphorus available to the plant improves your chances for increased yields.

Can I reduce my phosphorus fertilizer then?

We encourage a soil test. Apply the recommended amount of phosphate. Applying the recommended amount generally produces a healthier, productive crop.

Does AVAIL work for all crops?

Yes. Since the AVAIL works on the phosphorus fertilizer, it will help any crop that uses phosphorus.

Does AVAIL work with all fertilizers?

It works with all phosphate fertilizers. (i.e. DAP, 18-46-0; MAP 11-52-0; TSP, 0-45-0) and all Liquid phosphorus fertilizers (i.e. 10-34-0, 11-37-0)
