When Should You Use Mare's Match Foal Milk Replacer?

Mixing And Feeding Guidelines

The Foal Of Today Is The Horse Of Tomorrow

Use the plastic cup provided to measure out the milk replacer powder. Each cup holds about 1/4 pound of powder. Mix 1 level cup of Land O'Lakes Mare's Match in 1 quart of 110-120 degrees F. water by slowly adding powder to water while stirring. Feeding temperature should be 90-100 degrees F.

The objective of a good foal raising program is to produce a healthy horse at maturity.

  • Insure that the foal receives colostrum as soon as possible after birth.
  • Mix one plastic cup (approx. 1/4#, provided) in 1 quart of warm water (110-120 degrees F.).
  • Feeding temperature should be 90-100 degrees F.
  • Use the following schedule as a guideline for feeding reconstituted milk replacer.
  • Completely sanitize feeding equipment daily.
  • Reseal plastic liner between feedings to maintain freshness.

General Recommendations

  4. If persistent scours occur, consult with your veterinarian.
  5. Reseal bag between feedings to maintain freshness.
  6. Keep foals in dry, draft-free environment.
  7. Do not re-feed milk replacer that is left over more than 2 hours.
