Whatever your goal, it all starts with a superior feeding program. Triple Crown Nutrition has developed such a feed line. It's called, appropriately enough, Triple Crown®. Triple Crown uses only the best grains, ingredients, and our unique EquiMix™ Technology. Together, they create a feeding program designed to avoid the complications your horse might typically encounter. For example, Triple Crown features feeds and supplements that help ensure your horse doesn't receive excessive grain concentrates, which often lead to colic, laminitis and muscle complications. The Triple Crown line features different formulas designed to meet the needs of a variety of horses. While Triple Crown products may not produce a Triple Crown winner, they will help your horse achieve excellent health and championship performance, even if it's just in your own back pasture.
EquiMix Technology
Your horse's health and performance are directly linked to the intestinal system, which is limited by fermentation in the hindgut. But through the use of EquiMix Technology, a unique blend of yeast cultures, organic minerals, digestive bacteria, enzymes and yucca extract, Triple Crown feeds optimize intestinal function by aiding digestion and fermentation.
Equest™ Yeast cultures are specifically designed for the diet and unique digestive system of a horse. Yeast has been scientifically proven to improve digestion of fiber and protein and increase absorption of phosphorus. The five separate bacteria (probiotics) strains and four different enzymes help supplement the horse's natural ability to produce the same digestive aids. The bacteria help hindgut fermentation, and the enzymes aid the small intestine in absorption of nutrients.
Organic minerals have been proven to greatly enhance absorption of macro-minerals in the small-intestine. Along with kelp meal, they provide minerals which play a critical role and are not normally found in grains and forages. We provide six different organic minerals that are used by the body to improve stress resistance, proper bone development, reproductive performance, and energy utilization during intense exercise. For example, research has shown that preventation of Developmental Bone Disease may be influenced by organic copper and zinc in the feed ration.
Yucca extract has been used over the years as a home remedy to treat arthritic horses. It also functions to decrease ammonia levels in the horse's system. Research has linked elevated ammonia levels to poor performance, tissue irritation, intestinal problems, immune deficiencies, and respiratory ailments.
New to the EquiMix program are two supplements designed to defend the digestive system from clinical and sub-clinical problems. Bio-Moss is a glucomannoprotein derived from yeast cell walls. Bio-Moss blocks the colonization of pathogens, such as E-coli and Salmonella, which are always present along the digestive tract. MTB-100, also a derivative of yeast cell walls, absorbs and neutralizes mycotoxins that are commonly associated with forages. Bio-Moss and MTB-100 also have no adverse binding effects on vitamins and minerals.
Premier Ingredients
A horse's feeding ration is only as good as the product's raw ingredients. And to ensure that Triple Crown feeds are made of only premier ingredients, Triple Crown Nutrition incorporates only the finest grains grown in the upper Midwest, on some of the world's richest and most fertile soil.
These superior grains are handled through a special 'triple-cleaning' process to ensure that all hulls, dust and noxious weeds are eliminated. Finally, all our grain produts are tested for mycotoxins produced by molds that cannot be seen by the naked eye. The end result is a cleaner, more digestible energy source for your horse.
Many of our formulas also utilize shredded beet pulp and added fat sources. Beet pulp is a very palatable, highly digestible fiber source providing a high level of safe, non-carbohydrate calories. Beet pulp alone, however, is lacking in some essential vitamins and minerals. Triple Crown feeds compensate for those deficiencies.
All of our added fat sources are from vegetable oils, specifically soybean oil. In some formulas, we even provide rice bran to supplement fat levels. Higher fat feeds provide a safe alternative energy source and have been proven to have a calming effect on some horses that tend to get hyperactive on heavy grain diets. There are no animal fat or byproducts used in any Triple Crown formulas.
Horses also require certain amino acids, called essential amino acids. These amino acids are not found in a horse's natural diet and must be supplemented. Triple Crown provides the added lysine, methionine, and cystine required to improve nutrient balance and muscle performance.
Sel-Plex®, Organic Selenium. For a safer, more efficient source of selenium, Triple Crown® premium horse feeds now contain Sel-Plex®, the only organic selenium that's FDA-reviewed. Selenium supports the body's ability to repair and strengthen itself. Performance horses experience stress on tissues and active muscles. Broodmares can suffer infections that hinder reproduction, and gestating mares transfer a tremendous quantity of trace minerals to their growing foals. Mature horses, though assumed to have lower selenium needs, may have difficulty extracting essential minerals from feed as they age. Sel-Plex improves a horse's immune function because its organic form is metabolized and retained at a higher level and more safely by the body. Organic compounds are nature's way of transforming potentially toxic elements into safe forms. Which is why all Triple Crown feeds contain Sel-Plex for optimum health during all stages of your horse's life.
