Saving Soybean Seed for Replanting?
Seed Containing the Roundup Ready® Gene Cannot be Saved for Replanting. Seeds containing the Roundup Ready trait and the Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® trait are protected under numerous United States patents, including Patent No. RE39,247. It is unlawful to save Roundup Ready® soybeans or Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans for planting or transfer to others for use as a planting seed.

Uses Relative maturity classification, for example:
First digit = maturity group RT 4777N = Group IV
Second digit = relative position RT 4777N = LATE maturity in Group IV
PVP vs. Patented. Under the Plant Variety Protection law, a farmer who purchases and plants a PVP soybean variety, can save enough seed of that variety to plant on his/her farm acreage, but may not be sold to other farmers outside the seed certification system. Southern States GrowMaster® soybean varieties are U.S. Patented and cannot be saved for seed under any circumstances. |

This is Genuity™
This is Monsanto’s new trait innovation brand for corn, soybean, cotton and specialty crops. Now the traits that farmers already count on - and those yet to be developed - are Genuity traits.
The Genuity brand is Monsanto’s first brand uniting a family of traits under a single, easily-recognizable name that allows us to simplify our message and differentiate our traits from competitors.
This is big news for farmers, because Genuity traits enable farmers to make their best decisions, quickly and easily. And, that’s what the Genuity brand is all about...helping farmers do what they do best, even better.
Benefits of Using New Soybean Seed
Convenience
- High quality and high yield potential product versus bin-run
- Access to the most elite germplasm
Economics of New Seed Versus Bin-Run
- Income lost by not selling as commodity grain
(i.e. 1 bushel of bin-run seed multiplied by the price of a soybean bushel)
- Average loss of 10 to 15% cleanout at harvest for bin-run seed
Limited Warranty Benefits
- Dealer agronomic support before and after the sale
- Risk management benefits of Roundup Rewards®
(over $600 million paid to growers since 1977)
New Innovations
- Royalties provide research and development of new traits and higher yielding germplasm
- Monsanto invests over $700 million per year on research and development
STS® Herbicide Tolerant Biotechnology
Incorporating an enhanced sulfonylurea tolerance trait developed by DuPont, these innovative Southern States soybean varieties allow post-emergent broadleaf weed control with sulfonylurea-based herbicides such as Synchrony.
The above varieties designated with RT and STS have both Roundup® herbicide tolerance, plus the added feature of allowing the application of Synchrony herbicide post-applied for control of broadleaf weeds.
Synchrony® and STS® are registered trademarks of E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., Inc.
