Ridinger Earns Club Master Jacket (02/28/08)
Kevin Ridinger, a senior at Francis Scott Key High School in Taneytown, Md. has earned a Club Master Jacket and cash award from Southern States Cooperative. Ridinger’s participation in the Club Master Awards Program included raising dairy steers, dairy goats and chickens.
Although Ridinger’s father Arthur is an employee at the Frederick Co-op, Kevin says that he learned about the Club Master program through magazine advertisements in agricultural publications. “I would definitely recommend it to my friends,” Ridinger said.
In addition to raising and showing livestock, Ridinger purchased a 1941 Farmall H from the Frederick Co-op that had initially been used to pull train cars. He fully restored the tractor and is now participating in shows and other events with it.
Ridinger is serving as president of the Francis Scott Key FFA chapter and is an active member in the Carroll County Progressive Clovers and Power Take-Off 4-H clubs. His plans for the future include attending community college and pursuing a career as a machinist and eventually taking over the family farm.
