Features

Built from our latest proprietary research, HerdFirst® Heifer Mineral and HerdFirst® Developer are formulated to help your animals reach their optimal size before transitioning into the milking herd.

Benefits

For increased rate of weight gain. With Monensin added at 200 g/ton Pelleted Feed. Formulated with a balance of carbohydrates and amino acids. Designed to be used in a total mixed ration or with forages.

Each LB of this feed contains 100 mg of Monensin. Feed 1 to 2 LB of feed per head per day to provide not less than 50 nor more than 200 mg of Monensin in not less than 1 LB of feed. During the first 5 days of feeding, cattle should receive not more than 100 mg per day contained in not less than 1 LB of feed. Provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times. Please refer to chart below:

Animal Weight (LB) / Feeding Rate (LB) / Monensin Provided (mg)

400 / 1.0 / 100.0

500 / 1.25 / 125.0

600 / 1.5 / 150.0

700 / 1.75 / 175.0

800 / 2.0 / 200.0

CAUTION: Do not allow horses or other equines access to feed containing Monensin. Ingestion of Monensin by horses has been fatal. Monensin-medicated cattle and goat feeds are safe for use in cattle and goats only. Consumption by unapproved species may result in toxic reactions. Do not feed undiluted. Feeding undiluted or mixing errors resulting in high concentrations of Monensin has been fatal to cattle and could be fatal to goats. Do not exceed the levels of Monensin recommended in the feeding directions, as reduced average daily gains may result. If feed refusals containing Monensin are fed to other groups of cattle, the concentration of Monensin in the refusals and amount of refusals fed should be taken into consideration to prevent Monensin overdosing WARNING: A WITHDRAWAL TIME HAS NOT BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR PRE-RUMINATING CALVES. DO NOT USE IN CALVES TO BE PROCESSED FOR VEAL.
