Southern States Launches Fueling FFA Campaign

Co-op to donate portion of propane sales to North Carolina FFA

Farm supply retailer Southern States Cooperative is launching its first annual Fueling FFA campaign in an effort to raise money to help young, future farmers in the state of North Carolina.

Southern States is donating a portion of their propane sales from one of their propane trucks to the North Carolina FFA Association.

“Young farmers are the future of food production,” says Jeff Stroburg, president and CEO of Southern States. “As a farmer-owned cooperative, we take tremendous pride in investing in the young farmers of America and will continue to contribute to their development as future leaders in agriculture.”

The company unveiled the colorfully wrapped truck last week during their annual Southern States Showcase at the Charlotte Convention Center in downtown Charlotte. North Carolina FFA Officer Sarah Swain and Director of Development, Alycia Thornton, attended the Opening Ceremony.

"We appreciate that Southern States sees agricultural education and FFA as a critical part of the future of the agricultural industry,” said Alycia Thornton. “The contributions from Southern States help us achieve the FFA vision of growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Working together, our two organizations will make a tremendous difference in the lives of young people."

The truck will be a part of Southern States’ Siler City Service fleet, and will begin making propane deliveries to central North Carolina residents beginning this week. Southern States has a long history of supporting the FFA. Every March, the cooperative holds an “I’m Supporting FFA” paper emblem campaign. The campaign enables customers at the participating local stores to purchase FFA emblems for $1.00 each. The emblems are proudly displayed in our stores and the money donated ends up at the local, state and national levels of FFA.

Residents can request the Fueling FFA truck by calling (919) 742-2128 and scheduling a delivery. For more information, visit
